# Subscription investment calculator

Every subscription is also a monthly investment you didn't make. Enter what you spend, or add services with one click, and see what that money could have grown to.

## How it works

The calculator treats each monthly payment as a deposit, compounded monthly at the yearly return you choose. 7% is a common long-run assumption for a broad stock index fund before inflation. Real returns vary year to year and aren't guaranteed.

## Worked example

[Netflix](https://www.trackmysubscriptions.com/subscriptions/netflix) Standard is $19.99 a month. Over 20 years that's $4,797.60 in fees. Invested at 7% instead, the same payments would grow to about $10,413.

This isn't a reason to cancel everything. It's a way to price the subscriptions you don't use. See what a whole stack costs in [How much do subscriptions cost?](https://www.trackmysubscriptions.com/blog/how-much-do-subscriptions-cost)

## FAQ

### How much would my subscriptions be worth if I invested the money?

Enter your monthly spend above. At 7% a year, $50 a month grows to about $8,654 in 10 years and $26,046 in 20.

### Is 7% a realistic return?

It's a common long-run assumption for broad stock index funds before inflation, not a promise. Change it to see a range.

### Is this financial advice?

No. It's an illustration of compound growth to help you weigh what subscriptions really cost.
