## How the end date is worked out

- **Day-based trials** (7, 14 or 30 days) end that many days after the start. A 7-day trial started on a Monday ends the next Monday.
- **Month-based trials** end on the same date next month. If that date doesn't exist, it moves to the month's last day, so a trial started on January 31 ends February 28.
- **Cancel by** is the day before the end date. Most services charge at the start of the end day, and some charge early in your time zone's morning.

## Why free trials catch people

A trial converts to a paid plan automatically, and the reminder email, if there is one, arrives when you're not thinking about it. A calendar reminder a couple of days ahead is the simplest fix: it reaches you where you already plan your week.

Already charged? Our [cancel guides](https://www.trackmysubscriptions.com/cancel) link straight to the cancel page of 45 services, and the [subscription audit](https://www.trackmysubscriptions.com/blog/subscription-audit) finds trials you forgot.

## FAQ

### When does a 7-day free trial end?

Seven days after it started, on the same weekday. Cancel by the day before to be safe.

### When does a 1-month free trial end?

On the same date next month. If that date doesn't exist, on the last day of that month.

### Will I lose access if I cancel a free trial early?

It depends on the service. Many keep the trial running until its end date after you cancel, but some end it immediately. The cancel screen usually says which.

### Does the calendar reminder need an account?

No. It downloads a standard .ics file that works with Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Outlook. Nothing is sent to us.
