What is Subscription Tier?

Definition

A specific pricing level within a tiered subscription model, each offering a different combination of features, limits, and price.

Understanding Subscription Tier

Subscription tiers (also called plans or packages) are the building blocks of tiered pricing. Most services offer 2-4 tiers: Free/Basic (entry point), Standard/Pro (most users), Premium/Business (power users), and Enterprise (large organizations). Each tier is designed for a specific customer segment.

The 'good-better-best' framework is common, with the middle tier often highlighted as 'most popular' to guide decisions. When choosing a tier, list the features you actually need rather than being attracted to the highest tier. Many users overpay by subscribing to tiers whose premium features they never use.
